Costuming: Cog Dress

This is an original design inspired by the whole Victorian/Steampunk thing. Also designed as an excuse to make a real corset and use way too much silk.

My insane ramblings as I made it can be found in the last three entries (or under the costuming: cogdress tag).

The following pics are from a photoshoot I did with [info]jointed_squeek back in August.

Huge train was huge. And unfortunately, the Museum had welded sheets of metal over all the ladders onto the body of the locomotive, except for a little part at the front.

At this point I discovered the "wonders" of being a tourist attraction in downtown Ottawa.

Apparently, one guy thought I was a statue... until I started moving at which point he wanted a pic with me.

OMAKE!

As the shoot went on, I started getting a little silly from being in the corset all day. Thankfully, my lovely photographer only captured a few of those moments.

Thanks. =) I have no idea how I'd be for commissions and whatnot as I've only made things for myself. Which means when things don't go quite as planned, I can convince myself that they were meant to be/are better that way. XD

Oh gosh.. amazing! The hair colour also goes _so_ well with the costume. Really accents the green. And the hat! Wow! I love it all.

My compliments also to the photographer, those are some great shots.

I had just gotten my hair dyed shortly before the shoot and had no clue how the red would go with the outfit as a whole. Was so happy when it worked out.

And the hat was so much fun. Very tempted to make more, but need reasons to wear them.

Damn, Sha XD! This is AWESOME. I really like the jacket over top, and are those Cog Earrings?!?! This whole outfit turned out -really- well, and your skills as a seamstress are just... amazing *_*!

Kudos to Squeek for the awesome photos, too~! If you had someone dressed up a-la-evil villian, I think a damsel in distress on the railroad pic would have been neat XD.

The jacket/bolero was one of my favourite parts, despite it's issues. And yeah, little cog earrings courtesy of Mel (probably should return those at some point).

And it was one of easier things to sew in actuality... a lot of straigh lines... just a *lot* of them and it took a while to do.

And yeah, we debated some "laying on the train tracks a la damsel in distress" pics, but I decided against it as it was still early in the day and the ground wasn't exactly clean...

PS you can keep the earrings since they just go with your costume...I'd hate to break up a set ;)
